    Open Letter to Blogstar (40:13)

The cool thing about this site is the people. The other thing is the 6 cam function coupled with the ability to upload and play videos. There is nothing like the people or the technology here.

If it wasn't for Operator 11, I don't believe that vast majority of us would be here. From my understanding, we are voluntary testers. Our status is tentative and our efforts can be wiped away at any time.

There are seemingly money, business model, technical and communication issues that make it difficult to spend our free time to get our ideas out there.

    1. Money. My assumption is that it is expensive to fund and code this site. True, we are taking part in the site for no admission and if we had to pay, there might be fewer users. But if there is no cash, it's kinda like having a rolls royce with no wheels...

    2. Business Model. Bam, Nicky and all the rest do not seem to be involved in this site. Everytime I come to it...the shows are being done by non-"stars"...folks that are not public celebrities that you would find on TV or in the popular magazines. We are the actual users of the site...and we enjoy each other's company, but the basic business model that celebrities will be on this site and talk with their fans does not seem to be something that is in demand right now.

    3. Technical Issues. The chat being down and whether videos will load is a huge frustration...especially when they have worked before. As everyone knows, it takes quite a bit of time to get a library of videos. I myself have had really inspirational ideas like all of us I believe, but have been very disappointed that the videos that play just fine in the My Library part of the application, but will not play once on-air.

    4. Communication Issues. To me, this is biggest frustration. I never know if the site will be up or down for how long, etc... I think we can accept that this is an experimental site and that not everything is in place...but how do we know? I know Rob and Pubmama and others make announcements, but it's seemingly always after-the-fact. A pro-active approach I feel will quell alot of the frustration that we have.

I just watched a show from Radio Rod called Blogstar Promoters Meeting...and there are some great ideas...absolutely...I do believe we are all artists in our own right with great ideas, but if the support isn't there from Andy and/or the folks who control the site...then it will be very difficult to get to the next level.

So how can we help? Radio Rod and Pubmama (as well as many others here I believe) have alot of energy to promote the site. And I know they can get many other folks involved...but it has to be promoted as an idea that is not a vehicle for the celebrities, but a vehicle for people to share their unique experiences...the celebrities seemingly already have their outlets...movies, TV, magazines, their own sites, etc...and I would feel differently if this site was thriving off of that...but it isn't...so I would propose to re-purpose the site and make it for the people with the ability to play videos and keep the 6 cam capability...another thing is to strive for the TV studio...that can take it to another level as well...perhaps the o11 idea was ahead of its time…

I'm saying this because I really want the site to work with the folks that are here. I want it to be better technically than the other online sites I've been to. I will continue to do shows as long as the site is available and hang out with the folks here...but if you want it to get to next level I feel these issues should be fully addressed.

  • More Love & Rockets - Express (1986)

    More Love & Rockets - Express (1986) (20:37)

    From Wikipedia

The band's name was derived from the comic by Jaime and Gilbert Hernandez, which Gilbert later mocked in his book Love and Rockets X, where there were several different bands named "Love and Rockets" for a period.

Despite their previous band's status as gothic rock icons, Love and Rockets moved away from that genre, as demonstrated by their first minor hit being a cover of the Motown classic "Ball of Confusion". Their first album release, Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven (1985), leaned more towards post-punk, psychedelic music and proto-rave atmospheres. Their second release, Express (1986), continued in that vein. It included the dance hit "Yin and Yang (the Flowerpot Man)." The 1987 follow up Earth, Sun, Moon had a folkier sound and spawned the minor hit "No New Tale to Tell."

In 1989 the band released a self-titled album that presented a more AOR sound. The second single from the album was the T. Rex-inspired song "So Alive." It became a surprise hit, reaching No. 3 on the American singles chart, a feat no Bauhaus-related band or artist has achieved before or since.

After a grueling tour schedule in support of their big hit, Love and Rockets took a few years off before returning to the studio together. The result was a move to an electronic sound that had more in common with the Orb than their rock or goth roots. Their label, RCA Records, dropped them. They signed with Rick Rubin's American Recordings to release Hot Trip to Heaven (1994), followed in 1996 by Sweet F.A.. In April 1995, during the recording of Sweet F.A., a fire broke out in the house owned by American Recordings, where the band were living and recording. All of the members were uninjured, but their visiting friend Genesis P. Orridge of Psychic TV was injured escaping the fire. The band lost their gear (a photo of a burnt guitar was used for the album cover of Sweet F.A.) and months of work on the album. There was a lengthy legal battle between the band, their label, and the label's insurance company. Love and Rockets was found not responsible for the fire, but was left with a large legal bill.[1] Lift came out in 1998 on Red Ant Records, and the band disbanded in 1999, though the three have reunited with Murphy and reformed Bauhaus since.

Love and Rockets announced in October 2007 on their MySpace page that they would reform to play one song at "Cast a Long Shadow," a tribute to Joe Strummer and benefit for Strummerville, The Joe Strummer Foundation For New Music, on December 22, 2007 at the Key Club in West Hollywood, California. They covered "Should I Stay Or Should I Go," playing the song twice, the second time inviting members of the audience to join them onstage to sing along.[2]

They performed 27 April 2008 at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and also at Lollapalooza on 3 August 2008 in Chicago.
