  the question is...are u willing to lay it all on the line...willing to put all the eggs in one basket on yer expression? if the answer is no...i suggest doing it when u have the opportunity and have fun with it...
  
  if the answer is yes...then rise above all the bullshit dont blame the club owners and promoters...AND MAKE IT FUCKIN HAPPEN

  i think its not about funny or talent...thats the entry fee for a performer...my view is that club owners are not interested in your future...they are interested in now...they have to pay the bills now...and they want to make money now...looking to them as "artist development" is not what they specialize in...u start bringing in people...they make some cash...then u have some leverage...but playing to the regulars is not gonna get u or their business profit...
  
  promoters are similar but are looking for the next big thing...i havent had alot of experience with these folks...but by in large from what ive observed is...if yer not drawing an audience...they dont have much interest...
  
  i think its a difficult business...the cliche is that its who u know, when u met them...but theres a larger thing and that the audience...and even then...ive seen youtube stars get alot of interest, millions of hits, yet they are not getting to the next level
